“He’s Marvel’s Batman, but dressing all white instead of black, and throwing Moon Discs instead of Baterangs.”
First appearing in Werewolf by Night #32 (August 1975), the characterMoon Knight was created by writer Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin. Sharing similar skills and qualities to DC comics Bruce Wayne - vast wealth, a gallery of gadgets, keen detective abilities - Moon Knight was distinguishably different because he in fact had superpowers (although he would later lose them).
A former CIA agent and mercenary Marc Spector was approached by the Egyptian moon god Khonshu as he lay dying, betrayed by his employer, Raoul Bushman. Offered a second chance at life, Spector was resurrected and given superhuman abilities that he would use as the crime fighter “Moon Knight.”
“This character was always one of my favourites. Like Bruce Wayne, he lived in a mansion and had a cool car. His multiple personalities make him intricate and fascinating. I always wanted to have a Moon Knight in my portfolio and I was thrilled to have the chance to ink this drawing by Chris Campana..” - Mostafa Moussa
